Turn your iPhone into a credit card terminal

By SoftwareGirl

Are you a business that makes money transactions on the run?  Perhaps you’re a street vendor or rental car agent or someone who would like to take credit card transactions where there is limited resources to set up a credit card processing terminal.  You can now swipe your credit card using an add on piece of hardware or simply type the credit card number into your iPhone and process the transaction.  This even works on the Edge network which has the slowest data network that the iPhone will handle!

The best part of this is that the information is NOT stored on the iPhone.  So why do we need an office anymore?!  I’m way impressed with this.  We’ve come a long way from the days when everyone went to work in a cubicle farm and spent their days on conference calls in an 8X10 cell…er, I mean cubicle.

So what do you think?  Would you use this application in your business?  Would this help you?  Do you have experience with this application?  Let me know in your comments below.

Who Owns Your Website?

By SoftwareGirl

There are currently a lot of internet businesses beginning to emerge in the market place.  In today’s economy, everyone is looking to save a little here, create a little there to keep up with the changing financial landscape.  Not too long ago, some real estate investors would acquire a controlling interest in a piece of property so that when the property was sold, they would make some money during the transaction for having a “controlling interest” in the property without actually owning the property.  I am seeing a similar scenario emerging when it comes to internet businesses.

When a domain name is registered, the name and address of the person is recorded during the transaction.  If you’re purchasing that domain through a software developer, they may purchase the domain for you and then sell it to you for an amount or they may lease it to you for an amount.  Either way, they control the domain.  They also have the ability to lock the domain.  Locking a domain prohibits the ownership and associated hosting from being transferred to another entity without the owner’s consent.  Locking a domain is a normal activity used as a protection so that the website cannot be redirected by someone else.  It is simply a safety mechanism.  Even if you paid the software developer to purchase the website domain on your behalf, if they purchased it in their name, you do not own the website until it is transferred to your name.  Because you do not own the website, you do not control it either.

How do you know who owns your website?  You can search for your website name using a tool called “whois”.   Simply search for “whois” + yourwebsitename as shown in the example below:

Obviously you would replace “monetizationmagic.com” with the website name for which you are inquiring.

Your search should return several possibilities.  Take a look for one that will discuss who owns the website.  It is possible that this information has been obfuscated by a privacy service as well.  If this is your case, you will need to contact the privacy service and prove your right to know this information before this is revealed to you.  This can be a very good thing if you are a high profile individual and someone is looking to extract large amounts of money from you.  With privacy protection in place, they will not be able to easily uncover intellectual assets that are in your name.  Truly, if you have an internet business that makes a lot of money, there are other protections that should be put in place that are outside the scope of this post.

Now maybe you’re completely comfortable with the website ownership; however, you should keep in mind that website “flipping” is becoming a very lucrative business for those who know what they are doing.  Let’s say you have a website in which you have lost interest.  To you, the website is in a good niche and has a nice title but frankly it’s ugly.  It’s kinda of like the ugly, unkempt rental real estate down the block.  What is trash to you may be a mighty treasure to someone else.  Rather than just abandoning it, try to sell it and you may find that you can pocket a nice return on your investment!  Someone else might be able to purchase those ugly bits from you, transform it into something beautiful and then resell it for thousands more than they paid for it!  To whet your appetite, check out the article below that talks about Apple just paying over $4 million for a highly coveted domain name.  (Now why didn’t I think of that!)  If this is something that you might be interested in learning for yourself, check into my class offerings to get you started.

Look for website auctions to be opening right here in the coming weeks!

5 Simple Ways to Create More Money Now

By SoftwareGirl

If you’ve been to the grocery store recently, it is no doubt that you have noticed the cost of groceries rising.  In terms of your budget, you can either cut expenses or increase your income.  This particular downturn in the economy has been around for quite a while.  What can you do when you’ve already cut your budget to the bone and beyond?

Basically you need to create new income right now.  A 2010 survey by the Conference Research Group revealed that as many as 55 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with their current jobs.  You could go out and get another job you hate and try to weave your life around that or you could create something with what you already have to bring in additional money while keeping your sanity.  If you’re going to expend the effort, you might as well create something that you love, right?  Obviously, we can’t just print money like the government does, so what can you do?  You have expertise and interests that are your gifts to mankind.  It is your duty to share those gifts with your fellow man!  You will be amazed at what happens and how enriched your life becomes when you share your gifts.

1.  Start your own blog about your passion. Starting a blog about your passion is very easy to do.  There are many resources out on the internet including a FREE 7-Day eCourse on this very website.  If you are passionate about a subject, chances are you know a great deal about it.  Because you know a great deal about it, you won’t be struggling to find content to write for your blog and the time you invest will be pleasurable.  This is an activity that can be performed any where you have an internet connection.  When you use Google Adsense and visitors to your blog click on your links, you make money!  Just concentrate on providing great value to your readers and the money will come.

2.  Teach a class about your passion. Sharing your information and expertise about your topic is great and it’s even better when you meet other people with similar interests.  The best way to do this is to teach a class about your topic.  You will not only meet folks with similar interests but you will meet those who are looking for solutions to problems that are related to your topic.  Take the time to speak with your new students and find out about them.  Find out why they attending your class and ask them how you can be of assistance to them.  Provided that you are not selling anything at your initial class, you will find many restaurants with meeting rooms who are willing to provide you with meeting space free of charge.

3.  Offer services that surround your passion. Once you have had the opportunity to mingle with your students, you will have a good idea of what their needs are surrounding your passion.  You can then either create services to solve their problems or find someone who already provides that service and you can negotiate a deal to be paid for putting their service in front of your students.  When the students pay for the service, you get paid.  You’ve saved the service provider money on advertising and you’ve helped to solve your students problems.  By doing this, you have created value for all the people involved including yourself!

4.  Sell products affiliated with your passion. You can also either create products that your readers and students want or you can find them and make them aware of the products.  Once again, you will want to create an affiliate relationship with the vendor prior to introducing the product to your reader/student so that you can be paid when they purchase the product.

5.  Write an e-book pertaining to your passion. Because you are so passionate about your topic and you have created hungry readers with your blog, you can easily write an electronic book or e-book to further education your audience on your topic of choice.  Once the eBook is written, you can sell it on your blog for another influx of money.  You might even consider creating a workbook that could be used as a complementary part of your classes.

Hopefully, this gets your creative juices flowing about how to begin to create avenues of income surrounding your passion.  Creating value for your readers is your number one priority!  As the old adage says, build it and they will come.  You can be paid handsomely for solving problems for other people.  The first step begins with your 7-Day eCourse.  It’s free so sign up today!

Free Websites versus Paid Websites

By SoftwareGirl

Are you sure you want a free website?  If you’re just looking to create a website for personal interest and you don’t care about making serious money or even having someone purchase your website at a later date for a large amount of money then having a free website might be an option.

Did you know that you can make money just by blogging about your passion?  You can and some people are supporting themselves by doing just that!  You don’t have to be a software genius either!  If you can type an e-mail, you can have a money making website.

Are you looking for a free website because you’re a budget-minded individual?  I can certainly respect that!  Most websites can be created in less than a day for less than $100 if you know what you’re doing.  The beauty of this is that you have control over your website.  You’re website can be sold later if you choose and you can decide what environment to work in to create your website.  Free websites offer a restricted environment and only a handful of applications that can be integrated.  WordPress has literally thousands of options for your to add to your environment.  You can sell your own products and not be restricted as to what you can and cannot do on the website that you actually own.  Imagine being able to say, “I have my own website”.

Free websites offer the ability to get your message out quickly and cheaply.  With a free website, there really isn’t an obligation on the host to actually back up your website or even to consider you when they choose to sell to another company or just close up shop one day.  If you’re planning to build a beautiful website and put a lot of work into it, wouldn’t you like to know that it won’t just disappear overnight?  That would be like going to work one day to find that your job has been eliminated.

I am creating a program where you can learn to create your own website and learn how to start a blog using a step-by-step formula and incorporate the website builder, WordPress, so that you can work in a very simple, easy to use environment.  You’ll see how easy it is to start a website and even start a blog at the same time.  I’ll show you, using video tutorials and step-by-step instructions, the best options to add to your environment so that you can achieve your desired results!  You’ll be able to begin making money online very quickly.  The beauty of this is that once you learn the method using my step-by-step formula, you can use it again and again to create an army of money making websites!
